Date
April 2024
Role
Pre-production, Director of Photography, Editorial, Finishing
This project began when the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band was invited to perform in the 135th Rose Parade. As video producer, I managed the project from initial planning through final delivery, starting with developing the production outline, drafting a shot sheet, and shaping a flexible workflow that could adapt to the unpredictable, documentary-style nature of the trip.
I also served as director of photography, working closely with my trusted cinematographer as we traveled with the band for the full week. Together, we captured rehearsals, travel experiences, field show performances, and parade-day coverage, capturing the story while balancing mobility with high-end, cinematic production value. After returning home, I conducted and filmed all Drum Major interviews to complete the narrative structure.
Post-production was handled entirely in-house, where I served as both editor and colorist. Managing extensive multi-camera RAW 6k footage, supplemented by action and drone cameras, I shaped the story, crafted the pacing, and developed the final color grade to unify the look across all environments and shooting conditions. I also produced the film's trailer and a series of short-form social media teasers released in the weeks leading up to the premiere.
The final film, The Road to Roses, premiered on April 28th, 2024 on the Wells School of Music YouTube channel.
